The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • East Suffolk: The byelection in Orwell and Villages ward held on 12 August was won by Mick Richardson. Conservative hold.
  • Highland: The byelection in Inverness West ward held on 12 August was won by Colin Aitken. Liberal Democrat gain from Independent.
  • Highland: The byelection in Wick and East Caithness ward held on 12 August was won by Jill Tilt. Liberal Democrat gain from Independent.
  • North Ayrshire: The byelection in Dalry and West Kilbride ward held on 12 August was won by Ronnie Stalker. Conservative gain from Scottish National Party.
  • South Lakeland: The byelection in Grange ward held on 12 August was won by Fiona Hanlon. Liberal Democrat hold.
  • Tower Hamlets: The byelection in Weavers ward held on 12 August was won by Kabir Ahmed, who represented the ward in 2010-14. Aspire Party gain from Labour.

  • Ashford: Downs North ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Charles Dehnel. Term ends 2023.
  • Broadland: Brundall ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Rebecca Grattan who has moved to Prague. Term ends 2023.
  • Broadland: Old Catton and Sprowston West ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Samuel Walker. Term ends 2023.
  • East Cambridgeshire: Soham North ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Victoria Charlesworth who is moving out of the district. Term ends 2023.
  • Eden: Penrith West ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor John Thompson. Term ends 2023.
  • Horsham: Forest ward, after the impending resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Godfrey Newman. Term ends 2023.
  • Salford: Blackfriars and Trinity ward, after the death of Labour councillor Ray Walker. Term ends 2022.
  • Thanet: Thanet Villages ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Trevor Roper. Term ends 2023.

Dates for byelections

  • Ashford: The byelection due in Downs North ward will be held on 19 August.
  • Hammersmith and Fulham: The byelection due in Wormholt and White City ward will be held on 23 September.
  • Middlesbrough: The byelection due in Ladgate ward will be held on 16 September.

Other updates

  • Oxfordshire: The High Court has allowed the election petition in the Banbury Ruscote division, confirming that votes cast for Labour candidate Mark Cherry were inadvertently reported as for Conservative candidate Jayne Strangwood and vice-versa. Accordingly Mark Cherry has been declared duly elected.
