The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Eilean Siar: Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas Nan Loch ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Finlay Cunningham. Term ends 2022.
  • Mid Devon: Castle ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Irene Hill. Term ends 2023.
  • Norwich: Thorpe Hamlet ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Nigel Utton who had been elected for the Green Party. His term had been extended to May next year so no byelection will be held.
  • South Lakeland: Broughton and Coniston ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Anne Hall. Term ends 2022.
  • South Lakeland: Grange ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Eric Morrell. Term ends 2022.
  • South Lakeland: Kendal Rural ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Anne Hutton. No byelection will be held as her term was extended to next May.

Dates for byelections

  • In England, all current vacancies which do not fill a term ending in 2021 will be held on 6 May 2021, the ordinary day for local elections. In Wales, all byelections will be held in a period between 1 February and 16 April 2021.
  • Eilean Siar: The byelection due in Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas Nan Loch ward will be held on 8 October.
