The government proposes to divide the council between two unitary councils for Exeter and Devon Coast and Countryside, in 2027. Bradninch has a byelection on 15 October (held by the Liberal Democrats). John Poynton (Lower Culm) moved from Liberal Democrat to ungrouped in June 2026.
