Defections

New vacancies

  • Barnet: Finchley Church End ward, after the resignation of Reform UK councillor Daniel Thomas, who was elected for the Conservatives. He will not be replaced in a byelection as his term was due end in May.
  • Bromley: Petts Wood and Knoll ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Keith Onslow. His term would have ended in May so no byelection will follow.
  • Essex: Witham Southern division, after the resignation of Conservative county councillor Derrick Louis. His term was due to end in May so he will not be replaced.
  • Hounslow: Heston Central ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Riaz Gull, who was elected for the Labour Party. His term would have ended in May so there will not be a byelection.
  • Newcastle upon Tyne: South Jesmond ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Lesley Storey. As the full council is up for election in May, there will be no byelection.
  • Newcastle upon Tyne: Walkergate ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Paul Frew. No byelection follows as his term was due to end in May.
  • Redcar and Cleveland: Zetland ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Jonny Neal, who was elected for the Labour Party. Term ends 2027.
  • St Helens: Bold and Lea Green ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Glen Richards. No byelection will be held as his term was due to end in May.
  • Surrey: Warlingham division, after the resignation of Conservative county councillor Becky Rush. Her term was due to end in May so no byelection follows.
