The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Result
- New Forest: The byelection in Bransgore and Burley ward held on 23 December was won by Richard Frampton. Independent gain from Conservative.
Changes of allegiance
- Central Bedfordshire: Two councillors elected for the Conservatives have left the party to sit as Independent councillors. They are Nicola Harris (Stotfold and Langford ward) and Steven Watkins (Biggleswade North ward).
- Maldon: Two councillors have recently left the Independent group to sit as non-aligned. They are Stephen Nunn (Maldon North ward) and Kevin Lagan (Maldon South ward).
- Peterborough: Chris Harper, who was elected for the Conservatives in Stanground South ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Powys: Jon Williams (Llandrindod East / West division) has recently left the Action for Powys group to sit as a non-aligned councillor.
- Redcar and Cleveland: Graham Jeffery, who was elected for the Conservatives in Hutton ward but left the party in March to sit as an Independent, has now joined the Liberal Democrats. Meanwhile three members of the Cleveland Independent Group have joined the Independent Group (Cliff Foggo and Julie Craig (Skelton East ward), with Vera Rider (Longbeck ward). Two formerly non-aligned Independent councillors have also joined the group.
- South Kesteven: John Cottier, who was elected for the Conservatives in Grantham Barrowby Gate, has left the party to sit as an unaligned Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Ealing: Dormers Wells ward, after the death of Labour councillor Tejinder Dhami. His term was due to end in May so he will not be replaced in a byelection.
- Mid Suffolk: Thurston ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Wendy Turner. Term ends 2023.
- Selby: Byram and Brotherton ward, after the resignation of Yorkshire Party councillor Eleanor Jordan. Term ends 2023.
- Wandsworth: East Putney ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Sarah Binder. As her term was due to end in May, there will be no byelection.
Dates for byelections
- Manchester: The byelection due in Ancoats and Beswick ward will be held on 3 February.
- Selby: The byelection due in Byram and Brotherton ward will be held on 20 January.
- Tamworth: The byelection due in Spital ward will be held on 3 February.
