Defections
- Amber Valley: Trevor Holmes, who was elected for the Labour Party in Heanor East ward, has left the party group to sit as an Independent councillor. As a result the Labour Party no longer has an overall majority.
- Blaenau Gwent: Sonia Behr, who was elected for the Labour Party in Nantyglo ward, has joined the Green Party. It is also noted that Helen Cunningham, who was elected for the Labour Party in Llanhilleth ward, has left the party to sit as an ungrouped councillor.
- Doncaster: Dave Knight, who was elected for Reform UK in Thorne and Moorends ward but suspended from the party in September, has beeen readmitted.
- Swansea: Mark Tribe, who was elected as an Independent councillor for Llangyfelach ward and had been in the Independents@Swansea group, has joined the Conservative Party.
New vacancies
- Leicester: Stoneygate ward, after the death of Labour councillor Manjula Sood. Term ends 2027.
- North Kesteven: Sleaford Westholme ward, after the death of Lincolnshire Independents councillor Ann Mear. Term ends 2027.
- North Somerset: Clevedon South ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Dr Hannah Young. Term ends 2027.
Dates for byelections
- Corporation of London: An election of Alderman for Coleman Street ward will be held on 5 February, following the surrender of office of Sir Peter Estlin.
- North Somerset: The byelection due in Clevedon South ward will be held on 12 February.
