The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Changes of allegiance

Dartford: Two councillors from the Swanscombe and Greenhithe Residents’ Association have set up the Independent Party Group. They are Anita Barham (Swanscombe ward) and Sue Butterfill (Greenhithe and Knockhall ward).
East Riding of Yorkshire: Paul Lisseter, who was elected for the Conservatives in East Wolds and Coastal ward, has been expelled from the local party and is sitting as an Independent councillor. His expulsion was prompted when he criticised the council’s planning policy while appearing as a witness at a public inquiry.
Redbridge: Robin Turbefield, who was elected for the Conservatives in Bridge ward, has joined Reform UK over his disagreement with handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ribble Valley: Two Conservative councillors have left the group. Jim Rogerson (Alston and Hothersall ward) has resigned, while Ian Brown (Salthill ward) is suspended after being nominated as an Independent candidate for Lancashire county council.
Sandwell: Two Labour councillors have left the party to sit as Independent councillors. The first was former leader Yvonne Davies (Langley ward), who was followed by Joanne Hadley (Great Bridge ward).

Caerphilly: Aber Valley division, after the impending resignation of Plaid Cymru councillor Lyndon Binding. Term ends 2022.
North Tyneside: Camperdown ward, after the death of veteran Labour councillor Ray Glindon (husband of local MP Mary Glindon). Term ends 2023.
Torfaen: Blaenavon division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Alan Jones. Term ends 2022.

Kent: The election in Elham Valley division has been postponed from 6 May following the death of Chris Deane who had been nominated as the Labour Party candidate.
Norfolk: The election in Sewell division has been postponed from 6 May following the death of Eve Collishaw who had been nominated as the Conservative Party candidate.
Norwich: The election in Sewell ward has been postponed from 6 May following the death of Eve Collishaw who had been nominated as the Conservative Party candidate.

Thanet: The Leader of the minority Labour administration has resigned a few hours before the council was due to debate a Conservative motion to remove him from office. The council meeting was cancelled and the new administration will be settled at the annual meeting on 13 May – which will take account of the results of two byelections on 6 May.
