The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Result

  • Bristol: The byelection in Brislington East ward held on 16 January was won by Tim Rippington. Labour hold.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Barrow-in-Furness: Roosecote ward, after the death of Conservative councillor and former Mayor Rory McClure. Term ends 2023.
  • Cambridgeshire: Duxford division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Peter Topping who is moving out of the county. Term ends 2021.
  • Knowsley: Halewood South ward, after the death of Independent councillor Allan Harvey. Term ends 2022.
  • South Cambridgeshire: Whittlesford ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Peter Topping who is moving out of the county. Term ends 2022.
  • Sunderland: Houghton ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Alex Scullion. His term would have ended in May so there will be no byelection.
  • Surrey Heath: Bagshot and North Windlesham ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Sam Kay. Term ends 2023.
  • Test Valley: Chilworth, Nursling and Rownhams ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Nigel Anderdon. Term ends 2023.
  • Trafford: Village ward, after the death of Independent Liberal Democrat councillor Ray Bowker, who was elected as a Liberal Democrat. As his term was due to end in May, no byelection will be held.
  • Wirral: Moreton West and Saughall Massie ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Chris Blakeley. His term was due to end in May so he will not be replaced in a byelection.

Date for byelection

  • Highland: The byelection due in Eilean a’ Cheò ward will be held on 12 March.
