The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Horsham: The byelection in Colgate and Rusper ward held on 17 April was won by Hannah Butler. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
- Torridge: The byelection in Appledore ward held on 17 April was won by Kerry O’Rourke. Liberal Democrat gain from an Independent.
Defections
- Angus: George Meechan, who was elected in Kirriemuir and Dean ward for the Scottish National Party, has left the party to sit asn Independent councillor.
- Canterbury: Andrew Harvey, who was elected for the Green Party in West Bay ward, has left the group to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Derbyshire Dales: Nick Whitehead, who was elected for the Labour Party in Cromford and Matlock Bath ward, has joined the Green Party.
- Fareham: Lisa Whittle (Fareham Town ward) and Paul Whittle (Portchester Wicor ward), both of whom left the Liberal Democrats over the new year, have now joined the Conservatives.
- Herefordshire: Nick Mason, who was elected for the Conservatives in Weobley ward, has left the party to sit as an ungrouped councillor.
- Nottingham: AJ Matsiko, who was elected for the Labour Party in Sherwood ward, has been suspended from the group whip for six months.
- Redditch: Joe Baker, who was elected for the Labour Party in Batchley and Brockhill ward, has left the group following his suspension from the party, and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Windsor and Maidenhead: David Buckley, who was elected for ‘the Borough first Independents’ in Datchet, Horton and Wraysbury ward, has joined Reform UK. It is also noted that he, along with five other councillors from smaller and localist groups, have formed the ‘Independent Alliance’ technical group.
- Wrexham: Jerry Wellens, who was elected for the Labour Party in Minera ward, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned councillor.
New vacancies
- Edinburgh: Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart ward, after the death of Labour councillor Val Walker. Term ends 2027.
- Gravesham: Rosherville ward, after the resignation of Labourt Party councillor Lauren Sullivan, now Member of Parliament for Gravesham. Term ends 2027.
- Sutton: Carshalton South and Clockhouse ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Amy Haldane. Term ends 2026.
Dates for byelections
- Castle Point: The byelection due in Canvey Island Winter Gardens ward will be held on 29 May.
- Gravesham: The byelection due in Rosherville ward will be held on 1 May.
- Maldon: The byelection due in Maldon West ward will be held on 29 May.
- Sutton: The byelection due in Carshalton South and Clockhouse ward will be held on 22 May.
