The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Changes of allegiance
- Aberdeenshire: Iain Sutherland, who was elected as an Independent councillor for Peterhead North and Rattray ward and had been sitting in the Aligned Independent group, has joined the Conservative Party.
- Milton Keynes: Terry Baines, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Campbell Park and Old Woughton ward, has left the party following criticism of a posting on facebook.
New vacancies
- Barrow-in-Furness: Hindpool ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor and former leader Dave Pidduck. Term ends 2023.
- Southend-on-Sea: Westborough ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Charles Willis who has taken up a politically restricted job. Term ends 2023.
Dates for byelections
- In England, all current vacancies which do not fill a term ending in 2021 will be held on 6 May 2021, the ordinary day for local elections. In Wales, all byelections will be held in a period between 1 February and 16 April 2021.
