Independent Group 3, non-aligned 2. West Kent port town, with the economy based around the docks; previously a mining area. The Royal Marines are based in the separate town of Deal in this borough.

Stacey Blair (Middle Deal), Jamie Pout (Aylesham, Eythorne and Shepherdswell) and Charlotte Zosseder (Buckland) moved from Labour to form the Independent Group in April 2025. Charles Woodgate (Aylesham, Eythorne and Shepherdswell) moved from Labour to Conservative in January 2025; Shehrazade Mamjan (Aylesham, Eythorne and Shepherdswell) moved from Labour to non-aligned.
