The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Bassetlaw: East Retford North ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Adele Mumby who has accepted a new job with the NHS. Her term was due to end in May so she will not be replaced until the full council elections.
  • Kingston upon Hull: Drypool ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Gary Wareing in protest at spending cuts. As his term was due to end in May, there will be no byelection.
  • Mole Valley: Holmwoods ward, after the impending resignation of UK Independence Party councillor Stephen Musgrove. Term ends 2018.
  • St Helens: Haydock ward, after the death of Labour councillor Bill Anderton. Term ends 2018.
  • South Oxfordshire: Thame North ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Michael Welply. His term would have ended in May so there will be no byelection.
  • West Lothian: Armadale and Blackridge ward, after the disqualification of Scottish National Party councillor Isabel Hutton who failed to attend any meetings of the council in six months. Term ends 2017.

Date for byelection

  • West Lothian: The byelection due in Armadale and Blackridge ward will be held on 26 March.

Other updates

  • Ward boundary changes will take place in 55 councils which have elections in May. Three councils which previously elected by thirds have gone over to all-out elections: Purbeck and Stratford-on-Avon will have their elections in 2015 and then every four years, while Doncaster will have an all-out election again in 2017 and then every four years, to align with Mayoral elections.
