The British National Party candidate Tony Frankland kept the party’s seat in Loughton Alderton ward, Epping Forest district council, at yesterday’s byelection. The Conservatives also defended close seats at Nailsworth ward, Stroud district council from the Green Party and Newport North division, Isle of Wight county council from the Liberal Democrats.
