The following byelections are known about:

12 April

3 May
On the same day as the main body of local elections there are normally a series of byelections, because resigning councillors time their departure in order to fit with an election that is already happening. The following byelections will take place at the same time as already planned local elections, where an extra member will be elected:

  • Cabot ward (Bristol city council) due to the resignation of Mark Wright, a Liberal Democrat.
  • Cotham ward (also Bristol city council) is also having a byelection, due the resignation of Barrington Dodd, a Liberal Democrat.
  • Cuckfield and Lucastes division (West Sussex county council), due to the resignation of Anne Marie Morris, a Conservative.
  • Furnace Green ward (Crawley borough council), due to the resignation of Mike Weatherley, a Conservative who has been selected as Parliamentary candidate for Hove.
  • Haydon Wick ward (Swindon unitary authority), due to the resignation of Wayne Lawley, a Conservative.

In addition there are four byelections where there are no other elections taking place:

  • Abbey Road ward (Westminster city council) due to the death of Kevin Gardner, a Conservative.
  • Gensing ward (Hastings borough council), due to the resignation of Dr Daniel Poulter, a Conservative.
  • Marylebone High Street ward (also Westminster city council) due to the resignation of Michael Vearncombe, a Conservative.
  • Silverhill ward (also Hastings borough council) due to the resignation of Michael Lambrechs, a Conservative.
