Forthcoming byelections

The following byelections have been called:

15 March
None.

22 March

  • Claygate ward (Elmbridge Borough) caused by the death of Hugh Ashton, leader of the Liberal Democrat group. The winner has his seat until 2008.
  • Sutton-in-Ashfield North division (Nottinghamshire County), caused by the death of Labour councillor Dick Anthony. This seat will be up again in 2009.

29 March

  • Rooksdown ward (Basingstoke and Deane borough council), caused by the resignation of Conservative councillor Su Peters for personal reasons. The seat runs to 2008.
  • St Chads division (Worcestershire county council), caused by the death of Liberal Party councillor Mike Oborski. The term runs until 2009.
  • St David within (Powys county council), caused by the death of Marilyn Roberts MBE who had no party affiliation. The ward is in Brecon town. This seat will be up for re-election in 2008.
  • Stoke Poges and Farnham Common (Buckinghamshire county council), caused by the death of Rodney Royston (Conservative) on 27 December. As with other county council seats, this vacancy runs to 2009.
