The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Oxford: The byelection in Carfax ward on 4 September was won by former council leader Alex Hollingsworth. Labour hold.
  • Shepway: The byelection in Folkestone Harvey Central ward on 4 September was won by David Callahan. UK Independence Party gain from Conservative.
  • Surrey Heath: The byelection in Old Dean ward on 4 September was won by Heather Gerred. Labour hold. The successful candidate is the daughter of the Margaret Moher, whose death caused the byelection.

Changes of allegiance

  • Wrexham: Ten councillors have left the Labour group, including the council leader Neil Rogers (Gwenfro division). They have joined with the Democratic Independent group to continue an administration in the meantime. The origins of the split are in a dispute over funding to reopen a leisure centre.

New vacancies

  • Aberdeenshire: Troup ward, after the death of Conservative councillor John Duncan. Term ends 2017.
  • Durham: Burnopfield and Dipton division, after the resignation of Bob Alderson of the Derwentside Independents. Term ends 2017.
  • Essex: Brightlingsea division, after the resignation of Roger Lord who was elected for the UK Independence Party. Term ends 2017.
  • Kingston upon Thames: Tudor ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Frank Thompson due to ill health. Term ends 2018.
  • Rutland: Oakham South West ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Joanna Figgis who is moving out of the county. Term ends 2015.
  • Rutland: Whissendine ward, after the death of Independent councillor Brian Montgomery. Term ends 2015.
  • South Tyneside: Westoe ward, after the death of Independent councillor Jane McBride. Term ends 2015.
  • Swale: Sheppey Central ward, after the death of Conservative councillor John Morris. Term ends 2015.

  • Bolton: The byelection due in Harper Green ward will be held on 16 October.
  • Chelmsford: The byelection due in Bicknacre and East and West Hanningfield ward will take place on 9 October.
  • Crawley: The byelection due in Southgate ward will be held on 9 October.
  • Essex: The byelection due in Brightlingsea division will be held on 9 October.
  • Kingston upon Thames: The byelection due in Tudor ward will be held on 16 October.
  • North Ayrshire: The byelection due in North Coast and Cumbraes ward will be held on 30 October.
  • Rutland: The byelection due in Oakham South West ward will take place on 16 October.
  • South Tyneside: The byelection due in Westoe ward will be held on 2 October.
  • Swale: The byelection due in Sheppey Central ward will take place on 16 October.
