The latest information about local electoral matters is as follows:

East of England

 

East Midlands

  • Boston borough council: Tiggs Keywood-Wainwright was elected councillor for Fenside ward on 5 September. She wins for the UK Independence Party a seat previously held by a member of the English Democrats.
  • Charnwood borough council: Mary Draycott was elected councillor for Loughborough Ashby ward on 5 September, holding the seat for the Labour Party. There is another byelection, on 12 September, in Wreake Villages ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor and cabinet member Matthew Blain. There are further seats vacant in Loughborough Hastings ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Litu Choudhury, and Shepshed West ward, after the death of Conservative councillor and former Mayor Bernard Burr. All terms end in 2015.
  • Daventry district council: Bryn Aldridge was elected councillor for Ravensthorpe ward on 5 September. He holds the seat for the Conservative Party.
  • East Lindsey district council: Byelection on 12 September in Frithville ward after the resignation of East Lindsey Independent Group councillor Steve Doughty. There is also a byelection on 3 October in Chapel St Leonards ward after the resignation of East Lindsey Independent Group councillor Philip Leivers. Both terms end in 2015.
  • Harborough district council: Vacancy in Bosworth ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Brian Smith. Term ends 2015.
  • Northamptonshire county council: Ron Sawbridge was elected county councillor for Middleton Cheney division on 5 September, and so returns to the council four months after losing his seat in Brackley. He held the division for the Conservative Party.

 

London

  • Brent borough council: Impending vacancy in Dudden Hill ward where Liberal Democrat councillor Rev David Clues has said he is intending to resign in November (within six months of a full council election). He has been living and working in Brighton since December 2011.

 

North East

 

North West

  • Blackpool council: Byelection on 26 September in Highfield ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Chris Maughan who is moving to the East Midlands. Term ends 2015.
  • Carlisle city council: Tom Dodd was elected councillor for Yewdale ward on 5 September, holding the seat for the Labour Party. There is a byelection on 17 October in Dalston ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Nicola Clarke. Term ends 2015.
  • Manchester city council: Byelection on 10 October in Ancoats and Clayton ward after the resignation of Labour councillor and deputy Leader Jim Battle, now deputy police and crime commissioner for Greater Manchester. Term ends May next year.
  • St Helens borough council: Vacancy in Billinge and Seneley Green ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Alison Bacon. Term ends 2016.
  • Salford city council: Byelection on 10 October in Weaste and Seedley ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Thomas Murphy. Term ends 2016.
  • South Lakeland district council: Byelection on 17 October in Levens ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Mary Orr. Term ends 2015.
  • West Lancashire borough council: Byelection on 10 October in Parbold ward after the death of Conservative councillor Barbara Kean. Term ends May next year.
  • Wigan borough council: Byelection in Winstanley ward on 17 October after the death of Labour councillor and former Mayor Rona Winkworth. Term ends 2015.

  • Cornwall council: Stephen Knightley was elected councillor for Wadebridge East ward on 5 September. He wins for the Liberal Democrats a seat previously held by an Independent councillor.
  • Forest of Dean district council: There are two byelections on 26 September, both caused by the deaths of councillors. Coleford East ward was vacated by the death of Labour councillor Frank Baynham. Redmarley ward was vacated by Conservative councillor Peter Ede. Both terms end in 2015.
  • Mid Devon district council: Byelection on 26 September in Way ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Sarah Fox. Term ends 2015.
  • Taunton Deane district council: Byelection on 3 October in Taunton Halcon ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor and former Mayor, Steve Brooks. Term ends 2015.
  • Torridge district council: Cathrine Simmons was elected councillor for Torrington ward on 5 September. She wins for the Green Party a seat previously held by the Liberal Democrats, who did not nominate an official candidate in the byelection.
