The latest information about local council electoral matters is as follows:

East Midlands

East of England

  • Norfolk county council: Judy Leggett was elected councillor for Old Catton division on 14 July. She holds the seat for the Conservative Party.

London

North East

  • No updates this week.

North West

South East

  • Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead council: Byelection on 11 August in Eton and Castle ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Liam Maxwell, who has been appointed as an adviser to the Government on technology. Term ends 2015.
  • Wokingham council: Byelection on 21 July in Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Claire Stretton, who has moved to Maidenhead and was elected as a councillor for Boyn Hill ward on the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead earlier this month. Term ends 2012.

South West

West Midlands

Yorkshire and the Humber

  • North Yorkshire county council: Vacancy in Thornton Dale and The Wolds division after the resignation of Conservative councillor Ron Haigh, who is moving out of the county to help care for his wife. Term ends 2013.

Wales

  • Gwynedd county council: Byelection on 21 July in Glyder division after the death of Plaid Cymru councillor Dai Rees Jones. There is also a vacancy in Diffwys and Maenofferen division after the resignation of Llais Gwynedd councillor Richard Lloyd Jones. Both terms end in May next year. Plaid Cymru have just got an overall majority on the council, which they will keep if they win one of the vacant seats.
  • Torfaen county borough council: Byelection on Tuesday 26 July in Snatchwood division after the death of Independent councillor Tom Gould. Term ends 2012.
