The latest information about local council electoral matters is as follows:
- Mansfield district council: Vacancy in Park Hall ward after the death of Labour councillor Dorothy Beastall just a day after she was re-elected. Term ends 2015.
East of England
- Norfolk county council: Judy Leggett was elected councillor for Old Catton division on 14 July. She holds the seat for the Conservative Party.
- Enfield borough council: Byelection on 28 July in Bush Hill Park ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Eleftherios Savva, who is moving to Cyprus for family reasons. Term ends 2014.
- Haringey borough council: Lyn Weber, who was elected as a Liberal Democrat in Crouch End ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent. She has criticised her former party’s failure to tackle “real issuesâ€.
- Harrow borough council: Byelection on 28 July in Stanmore Park ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Mark Versallion, now a cabinet member on Central Bedfordshire council. Term ends 2014.
- Islington borough council: Byelection on 11 August in St Peter’s ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Shelley Coupland, who has been charged with benefit fraud and wants to clear her name. Term ends 2014.

- Blackburn with Darwen council: Byelection on 28 July in Beardwood with Lammack ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Sheila Williams due to ill health. Term ends May next year.
- Warrington council: Byelection on 28 July in Poulton North ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Sharon Wilson. Term ends May next year.
- Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead council: Byelection on 11 August in Eton and Castle ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Liam Maxwell, who has been appointed as an adviser to the Government on technology. Term ends 2015.
- Wokingham council: Byelection on 21 July in Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Claire Stretton, who has moved to Maidenhead and was elected as a councillor for Boyn Hill ward on the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead earlier this month. Term ends 2012.
- Dorset county council: Karl Wallace, who was elected as a Liberal Democrat from Bridport division, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- North Devon district council: Byelection on 11 August in Fremington ward after the resignation of Independent councillor Joanne Bell due to ill health. Term ends 2015.
- North Somerset council: Vacancy in Backwell ward after the death of Independent councillor Tom Collinson. Term ends 2015.
- Somerset county council: Byelection on 4 August in South Petherton division after the resignation of Conservative councillor Anne Larpent. Term ends 2013.
- Birmingham city council: Vacancy in Sparkbrook ward after the resignation of Respect councillor Salma Yaqoob due to ill health. Term ends 2014.
- Wolverhampton city council: Vacancy in Graiseley ward after the death of Labour councillor Dr Mohan Passi. Term ends 2014.
- North Yorkshire county council: Vacancy in Thornton Dale and The Wolds division after the resignation of Conservative councillor Ron Haigh, who is moving out of the county to help care for his wife. Term ends 2013.
- Gwynedd county council: Byelection on 21 July in Glyder division after the death of Plaid Cymru councillor Dai Rees Jones. There is also a vacancy in Diffwys and Maenofferen division after the resignation of Llais Gwynedd councillor Richard Lloyd Jones. Both terms end in May next year. Plaid Cymru have just got an overall majority on the council, which they will keep if they win one of the vacant seats.
- Torfaen county borough council: Byelection on Tuesday 26 July in Snatchwood division after the death of Independent councillor Tom Gould. Term ends 2012.
- Edinburgh city council: Byelection on 18 August in City Centre ward after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor David Beckett, who is to attend a course at Harvard. Term ends May next year.
- North Ayrshire council: Byelection on 25 August in Saltcoats and Stevenston ward after the resignation of Labour councillor David Munn. Term ends May next year.
- Perth and Kinross council: Impending vacancy in Highland ward after the 1 August resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Ken Lyall, who is disillusioned with party politics and is emigrating to Australia. Term ends May next year.
