The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Bury: The byelection in East ward held on 16 August was won by Gavin McGill. Labour hold.
  • Neath Port Talbot: The byelection in Gwynfi division held on 16 August was won by Jane Jones. Independent gain from Labour.
  • North Yorkshire: The byelection in Knaresborough division held on 16 August was won by David Goode. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Kirklees: Denby Dale ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Billy Jewitt. Term ends 2022.
  • Luton: Limbury ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Jennifer Rowlands. Term ends May next year.
  • North Lanarkshire: Coatbridge South ward, after the death of Labour councillor Gordon Encinias. Term ends 2022.
  • South Derbyshire: Linton ward, after the death of Conservative councillor and former council leader Bob Wheeler. Term ends May next year.
  • Suffolk: Bosmere division, after the death of Conservative county councillor Anne Whybrow. Term ends 2021.
  • Winchester: Upper Meon Valley ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Amber Tresahar (formerly Amber Thacker). Term ends May next year. As a result the Conservatives have lost their overall majority on the council.

  • Epsom and Ewell: The byelection due in Nonsuch ward will be held on 20 September.
  • Luton: The byelection due in Limbury ward will be held on 20 September.
  • Suffolk Coastal: The byelection due in Wenhaston and Westleton ward will be held on 20 September.
  • Winchester: The byelection due in Upper Meon Valley ward will be held on 20 September.
  • Wyre Forest: The byelection due in Bewdley and Rock ward will be held on 20 September.
