The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Perth and Kinross: The byelection in Highland ward on 19 April was won by John Duff. Conservative hold.
  • Warrington: The byelection in Lymm South ward on 19 April was won by Anna Fradgley. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • West Berkshire: The byelection in Thatcham West ward on 19 April was won by Jeff Brooks, who returns to the council after losing his seat in 2015. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.

Changes of allegiance

  • Brent: Sam Stopp, who was elected for the Labour Party in Wembley Central ward, has left the party. He is not standing for re-election to the council.

New vacancies

  • Cherwell: Bicester West ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Jolanta Lis, who was standing for re-election in May.
  • Suffolk Coastal: Leiston ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Ian Pratt. Term ends 2019.

Dates for byelections

  • Mid Devon: The byelection due in Cranmore ward will be held on 7 June.
  • Suffolk Coastal: The byelection due in Leiston ward will be held on 17 May.

Postponed polls

  • Cherwell: The election due on 3 May in Bicester West ward has been postponed to 21 June, following the death of Conservative Party candidate and incumbent councillor Jolanta Lis.
  • Stockport: The election due on 3 May in Edgeley and Cheadle Heath ward has been postponed to 24 May, following the death of Maureen Baldwin-Moore, who had been nominated as the Conservative candidate.
  • Tamworth: The election due on 3 May in Glascote ward has been postponed after the death of Sarah Walters, who had been nominated as the Green Party candidate.
