The only actual poll this week in a local government byelection resulted in the Liberal Democrats winning the seat in Sutton-in-Ashfield West on Ashfield district council, which had previously been held by an Independent councillor. An independent was also returned unopposed in Broseley West ward of Bridgnorth district council, replacing another independent.
