On Thursday 25 October the Conservatives won the byelection in Manor ward, Sefton borough council, gaining a seat from Labour. They also won Toddbrook ward on Harlow district council, while Labour held on in Little Parndon and Hare Street ward, the other Harlow ward to have a byelection. The Conservatives also kept Gwinear, Gwithian and Hayle East ward on Penwith district council and Witheridge ward on North Devon district council.

Labour made a gain from the Liberal Democrats in Stansty ward of Wrexham county borough council, and held on to Nelson ward of Great Yarmouth borough council.

The Liberal Democrats kept their seat at Penrith East division of Cumbria county council.
