Results
- Basingstoke and Deane: The byelection in Winklebury ward on 21 February was won by Angie Freeman. Labour gain from the Conservatives.
- Epping Forest: The byelection in Chigwell Village ward on 23 February was won by Darshan Sunger. Conservative hold.
- Kettering: The byelection in Barton ward on 23 February was won by Andrew Dutton. Liberal Democrat gain from an Independent elected as a Conservative.
- South Hams: The byelection in Charterlands ward on 23 February was won by Elizabeth Huntley. Liberal Democrat gain from the Conservatives.
- Wokingham: The byelection in Emmbrook ward on 17 February was won by Imogen Shepherd-Dubey. Liberal Democrat gain from the Conservatives.
Changes of allegiance
- Leeds: Janette Walker, who was elected for the Labour Party in Cross Gates and Whinmoor ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Spelthorne: A year after a deep split in the Conservative group, a group of four councillors elected for the Conservatives have joined the UK Independence Party and formed a UKIP group on the council. They are led by Denise Saliagopoulos and her ward colleague and former council leader Quentin Edgington (both Riverside and Laleham ward), and also joined by Joanne Sexton (Ashford North and Stanwell South ward), Penny Forbes-Forsyth (Staines South ward) and Kevin Flurry (Stanwell North ward). Edgington and Forbes-Forsyth had previously been in their own ‘Spelthorne Residents Party’.

- Exeter: St Thomas ward, after the death of Labour councillor Paul Bull. Term ends 2018.
- Malvern Hills: West ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Julian Roskams. Term ends 2019.
- Melton: Melton Sysonby ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Valerie Manderson. Term ends 2019.
- Mid Suffolk: Eye ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Charles Flatman who is retiring. Term ends 2019.
- Mid Sussex: Bolney ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor John Allen. Term ends 2019.
- Slough: Haymill and Lynch Hill ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Darren Morris. Term ends 2019.
- West Devon: Bere Ferrers ward, after the death of lead councillor for the Environment Mike Benson, who was a Conservative. Term ends 2019.
Date for byelection
- Aylesbury Vale: The byelection due in Elmhurst ward will be held on 6 April.
