The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Result

  • Argyll and Bute: The byelection in Oban North and Lorn ward on 2 June was won by Kieron Green. He stood as an Independent candidate and takes a seat previously held by a member of the Scottish National Party (who was elected as an Independent).
  • Denbighshire: The byelection in Denbigh Lower division on 2 June was won by Mark Young. Independent hold.
  • Denbighshire: The byelection in Dyserth division on 2 June was won by David Williams. Independent gain from Conservative.
  • Dorset: The byelection in Sherborne Rural division on 2 June was won by Matthew Hall. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Lewes: The byelection in Lewes Bridge ward on 2 June was won by Will Elliott. Liberal Democrat hold.
  • Mid Suffolk: The byelection in Barking and Somersham ward on 2 June was won by Anne Killett. Green Party gain from Conservative.
  • Rushmoor: The postponed election in Aldershot Park ward on 2 June was won by Mike Roberts, who retained his seat for the Labour Party.

New vacancies

  • Eden: Alston Moor ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor David Hymers. Term ends 2019.
  • Fife: The Lochs ward, after the resignation of veteran councillor Willie Clarke. Clarke was originally a member of the Communist Party of Great Britain, and later the Communist Party of Scotland, but in more recent years had been an Independent. Term ends May next year.
  • Newham: Forest Gate North ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Ellie Robinson who has been appointed as senior adviser to Mayor of London Sadiq Khan (a politically restricted post). Term ends 2018.
  • Richmondshire: Catterick ward, after the death of Independent councillor Tony Pelton. Term ends 2019.

Dates for byelections

  • Conwy: The byelection due in Mostyn division will be held on 7 July.
  • Cornwall: The byelection due in Newquay Treviglas division will be held on 14 July.
  • Cornwall: The byelection due in St Teath and St Breward division will be held on 14 July.
  • Suffolk: The byelection due in Carlford division will be held on 7 July.
