Results
- Broadland: The byelection in Aylsham ward on 17 March was won by Steve Riley who returns to the council after losing his seat last May. Liberal Democrat gain from the Conservatives.
- Corporation of London: The byelection in Lime Street ward was unopposed. Dominic Christian was declared elected at the wardmote on 16 March. The election was non-partisan.
- Corporation of London: The byelection in Tower ward held on 16 March was won by Anne Fairweather. The election was non-partisan.
- North Kesteven: The byelection in Ashby de la Launde and Cranwell ward on 17 March was won by Steve Clegg. Lincolnshire Independents gain from the Conservatives.
- Redcar and Cleveland: The byelection in Hutton ward on 17 March was won by Caroline Jackson. Conservative hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Argyll and Bute: Iain Stewart MacLean, who was elected for the Scottish National Party in Oban North and Lorn ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Fife: Marie Penman, who was elected for the Scottish National Party in Kirkcaldy East ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor after her complaints of bullying in the local party were not pursued.

- Argyll and Bute: Oban North and Lorn ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Iain Angus MacDonald. Term ends 2017.
- Denbighshire: Diserth division, after the death of Conservative councillor Peter Owen. Term ends 2017.
- East Riding of Yorkshire: East Wolds and Coastal ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Margaret Chapman. Term ends 2019.
- Glasgow: Anderston/City ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor and former council leader Gordon Matheson. Term ends 2017.
- Hackney: Hackney Downs ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Rick Muir. Term ends 2018.
- Hackney: Stoke Newington Central ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Louisa Thomson. Term ends 2018.
- Havering: Heaton ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Philip Hyde, who was elected for the UK Independence Party. Term ends 2018.
- Mole Valley: Ashtead Common ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor John Northcott, who has since died. Term ends 2019.
