Independent 7, Independent Group 2. An eastern borough of Greater Manchester on the edge of Pennines. Includes several manufacturing and industrial towns: Droylsden, Ashton-under-Lyne, Hyde, as well as overspill housing estates.

Ann Holland (Droylsden West) moved from Labour to Independent in October 2025. Vincent Ricci (Denton North East) moved from Labour to Independent in August 2025. Six suspended councillors returned to the Labour group in August 2025.
