Results
- Ashford: The byelection in Downs North ward held on 18 July was won by Charles Dehnel, who succeeds his late father Stephen. Conservative hold.
- Cardiff: The byelection in Cyncoed division held on 16 July was won by Robert Hopkins. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Ceredigion: The byelection in Llanbadarn Fawr – Sulien division held on 18 July was won by Matthew Woolfall-Jones. Plaid Cymru hold.
- Daventry: The byelection in Brixworth ward held on 18 July was won by Jonathan Harris. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
- Richmond-upon-Thames: The byelection in East Sheen ward held on 18 July was won by Julia Cambridge. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Wiltshire: The byelection in Westbury North division held on 18 July was won by Carole King. Liberal Democrat hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Derby: All five councillors in the UK Independence Party group have changed their allegiance to the Brexit Party.
- Islington: Gary Poole, who was elected for the Labour Party in St Mary’s ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Middlesbrough: David Smith, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Coulby Newham ward, has left the party following criminal charges.
- Portsmouth: Jeanette Smith, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Baffins ward, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned Independent councillor.
- Rochdale: Richard Farnell, the former council leader elected for the Labour Party in Balderstone and Kirkholt ward, has left the party.
- Rotherham: All 12 councillors in the UK Independence Party group have changed their allegiance to the Brexit Party. Peter Short (Sitwell ward) had left the group last month and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Sheffield: Jack Clarkson, who was elected for the UK Independence Party in Stocksbridge and Upper Don ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Wirral: David Burgess-Joyce, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Greasby, Frankby and Irby ward, has been suspended from the group.
New vacancies
- Bury: Radcliffe West ward, after the impending resignation of Labour councillor and council leader Rishi Shori, who is to take up a post as a policy adviser at Birmingham City Council. Term ends 2022.
- Kingston upon Hull: St Andrews and Docklands ward, after the death of Labour councillor Nadine Fudge. Term ends 2022.
- North Yorkshire: Upper Dales division, after the death of North Yorkshire Independent councillor John Blackie. Term ends 2021.
- Richmondshire: Hawes, High Abbotside and Upper Swaledale ward, after the death of Independent councillor John Blackie. Term ends 2023.
- Rugby: Rokeby and Overslade ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Nick Long. Term ends 2023.

- Rugby: The byelection due in Rokeby and Overslade ward will be held on 22 August.
Other updates
- Lewes: At the full council meeting on Monday the minority Conservative administration was removed from office, and a cross-party alliance voted in to lead the council. The leader is from the Green Party, with a Liberal Democrat as deputy leader; Labour and Independent councillors are also part of the administration.
