The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Result
- Gosport: The byelection in Brockhurst ward held on 30 May was won by Siobhan Mitchell-Smith. Liberal Democrat hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Ryedale: Tony Riby, who was elected for the Ryedale First Independents in Kirkbymoorside ward, has moved to the Independent group.
- Sandwell: It is noted that two councillors, Bill Cherrington (Princes End ward) and Caroline White (Cradley Heath and Old Hill ward), both of whom were elected for the Labour Party, have left to form the ‘United Sandwell’ group on the council.
New vacancies
- Ashford: Downs North ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Stephen Dehnel. Term ends 2023.
- Gloucester: Podsmead ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Deborah Smith. Term ends 2020.
Dates for byelections
- Herefordshire: The byelection due in Whitecross division will be held on 11 July.
- Middlesbrough: The byelection due in Park End and Beckfield ward will be held on 4 July.
- Rhondda Cynon Taf: The byelection due in Rhondda division will be held on 4 July.
Other updates
- Burnley: The council is now run by a coalition of the Liberal Democrats, Burnley and Padiham Independent Party, Conservatives, UK Independence Party and Green Party. The council leader is from Burnley and Padiham Independent Party.
- Cannock Chase: There will be a Labour minority administration, as the Green Party group has agreed to support it into office.
- Tendring: The Conservatives have agreed a coalition deal with the UK Independence Party and Holland-on-Sea and Eastcliff Matters groups, which will run the council. Other Independent councillors voted to support this coalition into power.
