The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

Changes of allegiance

  • Torfaen: Alan Slade, who was elected for the Labour Party in Llantarnam division, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor. He was opposed to the council’s budget.
  • Worcester: Louise Griffiths, who was elected for the Green Party in Battenhall ward, has joined the Conservatives. Her move gives the Conservatives an overall majority but the Worcester council constitution requires an all-party administration

New vacancies

  • Dover: Buckland ward, after the death of Labour councillor Simon Bannister. As his term would have ended in May, no byelection will be held.
  • Durham: Spennymoor division, after the resignation of Spennymoor Independent councillor Geoff Darkes. Term ends 2021.
  • Exeter: Priory ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Kate Hannan. Term ends 2020.
  • North East Lincolnshire: South ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Ray Oxby, who was also the council leader. Term ends 2020.
