The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Result
- Cornwall: The byelection in Newquay Treviglas division held on 9 August was won by Mark Formosa. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat.
Changes of allegiance
- Calderdale: Mike Payne (Sowerby Bridge ward), who left the Conservative group in April, has now returned.
- Edinburgh: Ashley Graczyk, who was elected for the Conservatives in Sighthill/Gorgie ward but left the party in July, has now joined the Scottish National Party.
- Enfield: Stephanos Ioannou, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Southgate ward, has had the whip suspended and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Kirklees: Bernard McGuin (Almondbury ward), who had left the Conservatives in June, has now returned to the group.
- North Norfolk: Jeremy Punchard, who was elected for the Conservatives in Lancaster South ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Portsmouth: Jim Fleming, who was elected for the Conservatives in Cosham ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Rochdale: Richard Farnell, who was elected for the Labour Party in Balderstone and Kirkholt ward but had the whip suspended in April, has been readmitted.
- Stockport: Kenny Blair, who was elected for the Conservatives in Marple South and High Lane ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Stroud: Sue Reed, who was elected for the Labour Party in Nailsworth ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Tendring: Two councillors have returned to the UK Independence Party, for which they were elected, after a period as non-aligned. They are Peter Cawthron and Alex Porter (both Alton Park ward).
- Waveney: After Stephen Ardley (Gunton and Corton ward) was expelled from the Conservatives over a controversial tweet, two fellow Conservative councillors have resigned in sympathy. They are Kathleen Grant (Carlton Colville ward) and Nick Webb (Whitton ward) – who only recently defected from Labour.
- York: Two councillors have left the Labour group to sit as Independent Socialist York councillors. They are Fiona Derbyshire (Holgate ward) and Hilary Shepherd (Hull Road ward).
New vacancies
- Charnwood: Birstall Wanlip ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Renata Jones. Term ends May next year.
- Nottingham: Clifton North ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Pat Ferguson who was originally elected for the Labour Party. Term ends May next year.
- Salford: Eccles ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Peter Wheeler who is moving out of the borough. Term ends 2020.
- Suffolk Coastal: Wenhaston and Westleton ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Raymond Catchpole. Term ends May next year.
Dates for byelections
- Charnwood: The byelection due in Birstall Wanlip ward will be held on 13 September.
- City of London Corporation: The election of Alderman for Bread Street ward is unopposed, and so the poll on 30 August will not happen. William Russell will be re-elected unopposed at the wardmote on 29 August.
- Lambeth: The byelection due in Coldharbour ward will be held on 13 September.
- Maidstone: The byelection due in Headcorn ward will be held on 13 September.
- New Forest: The byelection due in Pennington ward will be held on 13 September.
- Salford: The byelection due in Eccles ward will be held on 27 September.
