The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Doncaster: The byelection in Armthorpe ward on 15 February was won by Frank Tyas. Labour hold.
  • East Northamptonshire: The byelection in Higham Ferrers Lancaster ward on 15 February was won by Harriet Pentland. Conservative hold.
  • Epsom and Ewell: The byelection in Ruxley ward on 15 February was won by Alex Coley. West Ewell and Ruxley Residents’ Association hold.
  • Falkirk: The byelection in Bonnybridge and Larbert ward on 15 February was won by Niall Coleman. Scottish National Party hold.
  • Halton: The byelection in Halton Castle ward on 15 February was won by Christopher Carlin. Labour hold.
  • Lancashire: The byelection in Morecambe North division on 15 February was won by Stuart Morris. The Conservatives hold the seat; the previous councillor had been sitting as an Independent.
  • North East Derbyshire: The byelection in Grassmoor ward on 15 February was won by Richard Marriott. Labour hold.
  • North Norfolk: The byelection in Worstead ward on 15 February was won by Saul Penfold. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Northamptonshire: The byelection in Higham Ferrers division on 15 February was won by Jason Smithers. Conservative hold.
  • Teignbridge: The byelection in Chudleigh ward on 15 February was won by Lorraine Evans, who had a margin of 11 votes and returns to the council as a Liberal Democrat two and a half years after being defeated as an Independent (she was elected in 2007 and 2011 as a Conservative). Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Teignbridge: The byelection in Dawlish Central and North East ward on 15 February was won by Martin Wrigley. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Tendring: The byelection in St Paul’s ward was won by Sue Honeywood. Conservative gain from an Independent who was elected for the UK Independence Party.
  • West Oxfordshire: The byelection in Carterton South ward on 15 February was won by Michele Mead. Conservative hold.
  • York: The byelection in Holgate ward on 15 February was won by Kallum Taylor. Labour hold.

New vacancies

  • Cheshire West and Chester: Ellesmere Port Town ward, after the death of Labour councillor Lynn Clare. Term ends 2019.
  • Epping Forest: Chipping Ongar, Greensted and Marden Ash ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Brian Surtees. His term was due to end in May so there will be no byelection.
  • City of London Corporation: Billingsgate ward, after the resignation of Common Councilman Michael Welbank. Term ends 2021.
  • City of London Corporation: Bishopsgate ward, after Common Councilman Prem Goyal was admitted to the Court of Aldermen. Term ends 2021.
  • Taunton Deane: Wiveliscombe and West Deane ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Steve Ross due to work commitments. Term ends 2019.
  • Welwyn Hatfield: Hatfield Villages ward, after the death of the Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Lynne Sparks (who was a Conservative councillor). Term ends 2019.
