The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Corby: The byelection in Kingswood and Hazel Leys ward on 9 February was won by Isabel McNab. Labour regain a seat where the previous councillor had become an Independent.
  • Cotswold: The byelection in Fairford North ward on 9 February was won by Andrew Doherty. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Fylde: The byelection in St John’s ward on 9 February was won by Mark Bamforth, who was re-elected for the Fylde Ratepayers. The byelection happened when he was disqualified for not attending meetings due to his agoraphobia.
  • North Norfolk: The byelection in Waterside ward on 9 February was won by Marion Millership. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Tendring: The byelection in Great and Little Oakley ward on 9 February was won by Mike Bush. UK Independence Party gain from Independent.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Bridgend: Cornelly division, after the resignation of Independent councillor Megan Butcher. As her term would have ended in May, she will not be replaced in a byelection.
  • Newcastle upon Tyne: South Heaton ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Sophie White. Term ends 2018.
  • Rugby: New Bilton ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Steve Birkett. Term ends 2018.
  • West Somerset: Dunster and Timberscombe ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Bryan Leaker. Term ends 2019.
  • West Sussex: Roffey division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jim Rae due to ill health. As his term would have ended in May, there will be no byelection.
  • Wirral: Claughton ward, after the death of Labour councillor Denise Roberts. Term ends 2018.

Dates for byelections

  • Newcastle upon Tyne: The byelection due in South Heaton ward will be held on 16 March.
  • South Ribble: The byelection due in Walton-le-Dale East ward will be held on 16 March.
