The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Result

  • East Ayrshire: The byelection in Kilmarnock East and Hurlford ward on 26 January was won by Fiona Campbell. Scottish National Party hold. This is the last Scottish byelection before the full council elections on 4 May.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Breckland: Saham Toney ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Charles Carter, following his confrontation with a hunt protester. Term ends 2019.
  • Isle of Wight: Arreton and Newchurch ward, after the death of Island Independent councillor Colin Richards. As his term would have ended in May, there will be no byelection.
  • Lancashire: Great Harwood division, after the resignation of Labour county councillor Gareth Molineux. With full council elections due in May, there will be no byelection.
  • Stratford-on-Avon: Ettington ward, after the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Philip Seccombe, now Police and Crime Commissioner for Warwickshire. Term ends 2019.
  • Tendring: St James ward, after the death of Coastal Independent councillor John Hughes (who was elected for the UK Independence Party). Term ends 2019.

  • Broxbourne: The byelection due in Waltham Cross ward will be held on 9 March.
  • Christchurch: The byelection due in Mudeford and Friars Cliff ward will be held on 2 March.
  • Derby: The byelection due in Derwent ward will be held on 9 March.
  • East Hertfordshire: The byelection due in Hertford Castle ward will be held on 9 March.
  • Redcar and Cleveland: The byelection due in Newcomen ward will be held on 2 March.
  • West Oxfordshire: The byelection due in Hailey, Minster Lovell and Leafield ward will be held on 9 March.
