The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
North Ayrshire: The byelection in Irvine West ward on 11 August was won by Louise McPhater. Labour gain from Scottish National Party (the SNP candidate was Robin Sturgeon, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s father).
Renfrewshire: The byelection in Renfrew South and Gallowhill ward on 11 August was won by Jim Paterson. Scottish National Party gain from Labour.
Tandridge: Jeremy Pursehouse, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Warlingham East and Chelsham ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor. He had been the party group leader but was opposed to UK membership of the European Union.
Allerdale: Christchurch ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Margaret Jackson, who is leaving the district. Term ends 2019.
East Hertfordshire: Puckeridge ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor James Cartwright, who was elected as a Conservative but left the party in March over comments on Twitter. Term ends 2019.
Middlesbrough: Central ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Ansab Shan who is taking up a politically neutral post with the Crown Prosecution Service. Term ends 2019.
Suffolk: Hadleigh division, after the resignation of Independent county councillor Brian Riley, who was elected as a Conservative but left the party after he emigrated to North Carolina and refused to resign. Term ends May next year.
West Lindsey: Cherry Willingham ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Alexander Bridgwood who is joining the armed forces. Term ends 2019.
Dates for byelections
Cardiff: The byelection due in Plasnewydd division will be held on Tuesday 20 September.
Derby: The byelection due in Allestree ward will be held on 29 September.
