The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Result

  • Conwy: The byelection in Mostyn division on 7 July was won by Emily Owen. Labour hold.
  • Eden: The byelection in Appleby Appleby ward on 7 July was won by Karen Greenwood. Independent hold.
  • Suffolk: The byelection in Carlford division on 7 July was won by Robin Vickery. Conservative hold.
  • Thanet: The byelection in Newington ward on 1 July was won by Roy Potts. UK Independence Party hold.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Ashford: Beaver ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Jill Britcher. Term ends 2019.
  • Carmarthenshire: Cilycwm division, after the death of veteran Independent county councillor Tom Theophilus. Term ends May next year.
  • Cornwall: Four Lanes division, after the resignation of UK Independence Party councillor Derek Elliot. Term ends May next year.
  • King’s Lynn and West Norfolk: Heacham ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Peter Colvin. Term ends 2019.
  • Newcastle upon Tyne: Blakelaw ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor David Stockdale; he has cited work commitments as the reason but other investigations are underway. Term ends 2020.
  • Redcar and Cleveland: Ormesby ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Ann Wilson. Term ends 2019.

  • Ashford: The byelection due in Beaver ward will be held on 4 August.
  • Fife: The byelection due in The Lochs ward will be held on 25 August.
  • Redcar and Cleveland: The byelection due in Ormesby ward will be held on 18 August.
  • Richmondshire: The byelection due in Catterick ward will be held on 18 August.
  • Worcestershire: The byelection due in Ombersley division will be held on 11 August.
