The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • East Devon: The byelection in Exmouth Littleham ward on 21 July was won by Bruce de Saram. Conservative hold.
  • East Devon: The byelection in Honiton St Michael’s ward on 21 July was won by Jenny Brown. Conservative hold.
  • Gwynedd: The byelection in Waunfawr division on 21 July was won by Edgar Owen. Plaid Cymru hold.
  • Hackney: The byelection in Hackney Central ward on 21 July was won by Sophie Conway. Labour hold.
  • Lancashire: The byelection in Chorley Rural North division on 21 July was won by Alan Cullens. Conservative hold.
  • Lewisham: The byelection in Bellingham ward on 21 July was won by Sue Hordijenko. Labour hold.
  • Newark and Sherwood: The byelection in Balderton South ward on 21 July was won by Lydia Hurst. Conservative hold.
  • Northampton: The byelection in Westone ward on 21 July was won by Brian Markham. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Reading: The byelection in Southcote ward on 21 July was won by Jason Brock. Labour hold.
  • South Staffordshire: A byelection in Great Wyrley Town ward on 21 July was won by Mike Lawrence. Conservative hold. This byelection was not reported until early this week; the vacancy was left by the resignation of Conservative councillor Brian Bates and the term ends in 2019.
  • Tandridge: The byelection in Warlingham West ward on 21 July was won by Keith Prew. Conservative hold.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Bournemouth: Kinson North ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor David Turtle. Term ends 2019.
  • East Riding of Yorkshire: South East Holderness ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Arthur Hodgson. Term ends 2019.
  • Highland: Culloden and Ardersier ward, after the death of Labour councillor John Ford. Term ends May next year.

Dates for byelections

  • Bournemouth: The byelection due in Kinson North ward will be held on 1 September.
  • Cornwall: The byelection due in Four Lanes division will be held on 1 September.
  • East Riding of Yorkshire: The byelection due in South East Holderness ward will be held on 4 August.
  • Gravesham: The byelection due in Pelham ward will be held on 18 August.
  • Kent: The byelection due in Gravesend East division will be held on 18 August.
  • Thanet: The byelection for two councillors in Northwood ward will be held on 18 August.
