Results
- Caerphilly: The byelection in Ynysddu division on 7 April was won by Philippa Marsden. Labour hold.
- East Riding of Yorkshire: The byelection in Pocklington Provincial ward on 7 April was won by Andy Strangeway, who has a hobby of sleeping on remote Scottish islands. Independent gain from Conservative.
- Perth and Kinross: The byelection in Almond and Earn ward on 7 April was won by Kathleen Baird. The Conservatives take the seat which was formerly held by an Independent councillor.
Changes of allegiance
- Croydon: Matthew Kyeremeh, who was elected for the Labour Party in Thornton Heath ward, has had the whip withdrawn over findings in a judgment in a family law case. Several leading personalities have urged him to resign his seat.
- Thanet: Beverley Martin, who was elected for the UK Independence Party in Central Harbour ward but left them to form the Democratic Independence Group in September 2015, has now returned to the UKIP fold.
New vacancies
- Essex: Basildon Laindon Park and Fryerns division, after the death of Labour county councillor Bill Archibald. Term ends 2017.
- Merton: St Helier ward, after the death of Labour councillor Maxi Martin. Term ends 2018.
- Wiltshire: Trowbridge Grove division, after the death of Independent councillor Jeff Osborn. Term ends 2017.
Dates for byelections
- Denbighshire: The byelection due in Denbigh Lower division will be held on 2 June.
- Denbighshire: The byelection due in Diserth division will be held on 2 June.
