The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Result

  • Carlisle: The byelection in Botcherby ward on 7 January was won by Jack Paton. Independent gain from Labour.

Change of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Argyll and Bute: Oban North and Lorn ward, after the resignation of Argyll First (formerly Independent) councillor Duncan MacIntyre. Term ends 2017.
  • Barrow-in-Furness: Dalton South ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Bill Bleasdale. Term ends 2019.
  • Blackpool: Bloomfield ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor John Jones. Term ends 2019.
  • Bristol: St George West ward, after the death of Labour councillor Ron Stone. As his term was due to end in May, there will be no byelection to replace him.
  • Broxtowe: Toton and Chilwell Meadows ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Natalie Harvey. Term ends 2019.
  • Caerphilly: Moriah division, after the disqualification of Labour councillor Gina Bevan, who did not attend any meetings of the council in six months. Term ends 2017.
  • Caerphilly: Ynysddu division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Colin Durham due to work commitments. Term ends 2017.
  • Flintshire: New Brighton division, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Amanda Bragg. Term ends 2017.
  • Lichfield: Chadsmead ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Marion Bland due to ill health. Term ends 2019.
  • Manchester: Higher Blackley ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Anna Trotman. Term ends 2018.
  • Richmondshire: Catterick ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Derek Sankey. Term ends 2019.
  • St Edmundsbury: Haverhill North ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Tim Marks. Term ends 2019.
  • Stratford-on-Avon: Studley with Sambourne ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Nick Moon. Term ends 2019.
  • Suffolk: Haverhill Cangle division, after the death of Conservative county councillor Tim Marks. Term ends 2017. As a result the Conservatives have lost their overall majority on the council.
  • Taunton Deane: Halcon ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Chris Appleby. Term ends 2019.

  • East Cambridgeshire: The byelection due in Bottisham ward will be held on 4 February 2016.
  • Eastleigh: The byelection due in West End North ward will be held on 11 February 2016.
  • Flintshire: The byelection due in New Brighton division will be held on 18 February 2016.
  • Manchester: The byelection due in Higher Blackley ward will be held on 18 February 2016.
