Results
- Cambridgeshire: The byelection in Chatteris division on 15 October was won by Richard Mandley. UK Independence Party hold.
- Cumbria: The byelection in Howgate division on 15 October was won by Gillian Troughton. Labour hold.
- Southwark: The byelection in South Camberwell ward on 15 October was won by Octavia Lamb. Labour hold.
Change of allegiance
- Kingston-upon-Thames: Mary Clark, who was elected for the Conservatives in Old Malden ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Rugby: David Ellis, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Wolston and The Lawfords ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent. He was opposed to the council’s decision to join the West Midlands Combined Authority. As a result of his move the Conservatives no longer have an overall majority.
- Thanet: Jeff Elenor, who was elected for the UK Independence Party in Margate Central ward, has joined the Democratic Independence group. His move means that the UK Independence Party no longer has majority control of the council.

- Aylesbury Vale: Grendon Underwood and Brill ward, after the death of Conservative councillor and former leader John Cartwright. Term ends 2019.
- Bolton: Crompton ward, after the death of Labour councillor Sufrana Bashir-Ismail. Term ends 2018.
- Coventry: Lower Stoke ward, after the death of Labour councillor and council deputy leader Philip Townshend. Term ends 2018.
- Fife: Dunfermline North ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor David Mogg. Term ends 2017.
- Newham: Boleyn ward, after the death of Labour councillor Charity Fiberesima. Term ends 2018.

- Fife: The byelection due in Dunfermline North ward will be held on 26 November.
- Gwynedd: The byelection due in Dewi division will be held on 19 November.
- Gwynedd: The byelection due in Llanaelhaearn division will be held on 19 November.
- South Lanarkshire: The byelection due in Blantyre ward will be held on 10 December.
- Surrey: The byelection due in Epsom West division will be held on 19 November.
