Changes of allegiance
Portsmouth: Ken Ferrett, who was elected for the Labour Party in Nelson ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor, citing fundamental political differences with newly elected Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Stoke-on-Trent: Richard Broughan, who was elected as a UK Independence Party councillor in Abbey Hulton and Townsend ward, has left the party after being suspended over a controversial twitter post. He is now sitting as a non-affiliated councillor.
Brentwood: Shenfield ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Liz Cohen. Term ends 2018.
Chorley: Euxton North ward, after the disqualification of Labour councillor Mike Handley who failed to attend any council meetings in six months. Term ends 2018.
Gwynedd: Pwllheli South division, after the death of Llais Gwynedd councillor Bob Wright. Term ends 2017.
Norfolk: Watton division, after the resignation of UK Independence Party councillor Stan Hebborn. Term ends 2017.
North East Lincolnshire: East Marsh ward, after the impending resignation for health reasons (effective 30 November) of UK Independence Party councillor Becci Bishell. Term ends May next year; as her resignation will take place within six months of the election, no byelection will be held.
