Results
- Derbyshire: The byelection in Derwent Valley division on 24 September was won by Jo Wild. Conservative hold.
- Norfolk: The byelection in Loddon division on 24 September was won by Barry Stone. Conservative hold.
- South Norfolk: The byelection in Chedgrave and Thurton ward on 24 September was won by Jaan Larner. Conservative hold.
- Wakefield: The byelection in Pontefract North ward on 24 September was won by Lorna Malkin. Labour hold.
- Wyre Forest: The byelection in Blakebrook and Habberley South ward on 24 September was won by Tracey Onslow. Conservative hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Portsmouth: Ken Ferrett, who was elected for the Labour Party in Nelson ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor, citing fundamental political differences with newly elected Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn.
- Richmond upon Thames: Jennifer Churchill, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Teddington ward, has joined the Labour Party.
- Stoke-on-Trent: Richard Broughan, who was elected as a UK Independence Party councillor in Abbey Hulton and Townsend ward, has left the party after being suspended over a controversial twitter post. He is now sitting as a non-affiliated councillor.
- Tamworth: Matthew McDermid, who was elected for the Labour Party in Castle ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Brentwood: Shenfield ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Liz Cohen. Term ends 2018.
- Chorley: Euxton North ward, after the disqualification of Labour councillor Mike Handley who failed to attend any council meetings in six months. Term ends 2018.
- Gwynedd: Pwllheli South division, after the death of Llais Gwynedd councillor Bob Wright. Term ends 2017.
- Norfolk: Watton division, after the resignation of UK Independence Party councillor Stan Hebborn. Term ends 2017.
- North East Lincolnshire: East Marsh ward, after the impending resignation for health reasons (effective 30 November) of UK Independence Party councillor Becci Bishell. Term ends May next year; as her resignation will take place within six months of the election, no byelection will be held.
- South Lanarkshire: Blantyre ward, after the death of Labour councillor Jim Handibode. Term ends 2017.
- Wealden: Hellingly ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Paul Soane. Term ends 2019.
- Welwyn Hatfield: Northaw and Cuffley ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Adrian Prest. Term ends 2019.
