The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Changes of allegiance
- Bath and North East Somerset: Sarah Bevan, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Peasedown ward, has left the party to sit as a non-party councillor. She is standing for re-election as a ‘Village Voice Independent’.
- Waveney: Peter Collecott, who was elected as an Independent in Oulton ward, has joined the UK Independence Party and is currently standing for re-election as a party candidate.
New vacancies
- Bridgend: Newcastle division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Christina Rees (now candidate for Parliament in Neath). Term ends 2017.
- East Riding of Yorkshire: Dale ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Rita Hudson. As her term was due to end next month, there will be no byelection.
- East Riding of Yorkshire: Willerby and Kirk Ella ward, after the resignation of Mike Whitehead who was elected as a Conservative but has since joined the UK Independence Party. As his term was due to end next month, there will be no byelection.
- Highland: Nairn ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Colin Macaulay. Term ends 2017.
- South Kesteven: Bourne West ward, after the death of Conservative councillor John Smith. As his term was due to end next month, he will not be replaced in a byelection.
- Merthyr Tydfil: Gurnos division, after the death of Labour councillor David Jarrett. Term ends 2017.
- Merthyr Tydfil: Town division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Graham Davies. Term ends 2017.

- Bridgend: The byelection due in Newcastle division will be held on 7 May.
- Highland: The byelection due in Nairn ward will be held on 7 May.
- Merthyr Tydfil: The byelection due in Gurnos division will be held on 7 May.
- Merthyr Tydfil: The byelection due in Town division will be held on 7 May.
