Stoke-on-Trent: Three councillors who have recently left the Labour group to sit as Independents have now joined the City Independents opposition group. They are Janine Bridges (Great Chell and Packmoor ward), Neil Day (Blurton West and Newstead ward) and Duncan Walker (Baddeley, Milton and Norton ward).
New vacancies
East Lindsey: Sibsey ward, after the death of East Lindsey Independent Group councillor Rick Harvey. As his term would have ended in May, there can be no byelection.
Rotherham: Boston Castle ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Mahroof Hussain. Term ends 2016.
Rotherham: Valley ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor and former council leader Paul Lakin. As his term was due to end in May, there will be no byelection.
Stockport: Bredbury and Woodley ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Mike Wilson. His term was due to end in May so he will not be replaced in a byelection.
Suffolk: Haverhill Cangle division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Anne Gower who is moving out of the county. Term ends 2017.

Denbighshire: The byelection due in Rhyl South West division will be held on 19 March.
Other updates
Rotherham: Following the report by Louise Casey into the governance of Rotherham, the Secretary of State has announced that he will appoint commissioners to take over the council. In the interim the council leader has resigned. There will also be full council elections in 2016 (although the regular election of one third of the council this May is not cancelled).
