The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Bolsover: A byelection in Bolsover North West ward on 8 January was won by Sue Statter. Labour hold.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Bolsover: It should be recorded that the vacancy in Bolsover North West ward which was filled this week was caused by the death of Labour councillor Tom Rodda. The term ends in May.
  • Canterbury: Heron ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Ron Flaherty. His term was due to end in May so he will not be replaced in a byelection.
  • Darlington: Park East ward, after the death of Labour councillor Joe Lyonette. As his term was due to end in May, there will be no byelection.
  • Denbighshire: Rhyl South West division, after the death of Labour councillor Margaret McCarroll. Term ends 2017.
  • Shropshire: Oswestry East, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Martin Bennett. Term ends 2017.

Dates for byelections

  • Cambridgeshire: The byelection due in Bar Hill division will be held on 12 February.
  • Carmarthenshire: The byelection due in Hengoed division will take place on 19 February.
