One vote glory for Labour in Durham

The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

Argyll and Bute: The byelection in Oban North and Lorn ward on 23 October was won by Iain McLean. Scottish National Party gain from Independent.
Chichester: The byelection in Rogate ward on 23 October was won by Gillian Keegan. Conservative hold.
Durham: The byelection in Burnopfield and Dipton division on 23 October was won by Joanne Carr, who had one vote more than her nearest challenger. Labour gain from Derwentside Independents.
Durham: The byelection in Evenwood division on 23 October was won by Heather Smith. Labour hold.
Forest of Dean: The byelection in Newnham and Westbury ward on 23 October was won by Simon Phelps. Independent hold.
Gloucestershire: The byelection in Mitcheldean division on 23 October was won by Brian Robinson. Conservative gain from Independent.
Mid Sussex: The byelection in Haywards Heath Lucastes ward on 23 October was won by Geoff Rawlinson. Conservative hold.
Shepway: The byelection in Folkestone Harvey West ward on 23 October was won by Helen Barker. Conservative hold.

Basildon: Daniel Munyanbu, who was elected for the Labour Party in Vange ward but had been suspended after fraud charges were brought against him in Kenya, has joined the Independent Labour group.
Erewash: Louis Booth (Kirk Hallam ward), who was elected for the Labour Party, has left the party to sit as an Independent. He has been followed by his son John Booth, who was elected in Cotmanhay ward.
Highland: Drew Millar (Eilean a’ Cheò ward), who was elected as a Liberal Democrat, has left the party following criticism over his postings on Facebook.
Stockport: Paul Moss, who was elected for the Labour Party in Reddish North ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent.
Uttlesford: A new group called ‘Residents-for-Uttlesford‘ has been set up by Keith Mackman (Great Dunmow South ward), Heather Asker (Saffron Walden Castle ward) and David Watson (Saffron Walden Audley ward). All three were originally elected for the Conservatives. Joanna Parry (Newport ward), formerly an Independent, has also joined.

Hillingdon: Charville ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor David Horne due to ill health. Term ends 2018.
Nottinghamshire: Ollerton division, after the death of Labour county councillor Stella Smedley who was the longest serving member. Term ends 2017.
Sunderland: Washington East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Neville Padgett due to ill health. Term ends 2018.
Windsor and Maidenhead: Cox Green ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Alan Mellins over controversial comments on travellers. Term ends May next year.

East Riding of Yorkshire: The byelections due in Bridlington Central and Old Town, Howdenshire, and Willerby and Kirk Ella wards, will all take place on 27 November.
Hillingdon: The byelection due in Charville ward will be held on 27 November.
Medway: The byelection due in Peninsula ward will be held on 20 November.
Melton: The byelection due in Asfordby ward will be held on 27 November.
Oxford: The byelections due in Blackbird Leys and Northfield Brook wards will both be held on 27 November.
Oxfordshire: The byelection due in Leys division will be held on 27 November.
