Results
- Newcastle upon Tyne: The byelection in North Jesmond ward on 28 August was won by Gerry Keating. Liberal Democrat hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Sevenoaks: Chris Neal, who was elected for the Conservatives in Cowden and Hever ward, has joined the UK Independence Party.
New vacancies
- Cornwall: Mevagissey division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Michael Bunney (to take effect on 31 August); he has been appointed as a teacher at one of the council’s schools. Term ends 2017.
- Crawley: Southgate ward, after the resignation of UK Independence Party councillor Karl Southgate (who was elected for the Conservatives). Term ends 2015.
- Shepway: Folkestone Harvey West ward, after the death of Conservative councillor George Bunting. Term ends 2015.
- South Northamptonshire: Grange Park ward, a double vacancy after the resignations of Conservative councillors Mark Davidson and Tharik Jainu-Deen, who have each moved out of the district. Both terms end in 2015.
- York: Westfield ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Lynn Jeffries (who was originally elected for Labour). Term ends 2015.

- Argyll and Bute: The byelection due in Oban North and Lorn ward will take place on 23 October.
- Cardiff: The byelection due in Llandaff North division will take place on 2 October.
- Cumbria: The byelection due in Windermere division will take place on 2 October.
- South Lakeland: The byelection due in Windermere Town ward will take place on 2 October.
- South Northamptonshire: The double vacancy byelection due in Grange Park ward will take place on 2 October.
