  • Bath and North East Somerset council: Byelection on 15 November in Chew Valley North ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Malcolm Hanney, who is retiring in order to take up an academic study of politics. Term ends 2015.
  • Bournemouth council: Byelection on 15 November in Littledown and Iford ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Nick King, who is seeking election as Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset. Term ends 2015.
  • Cornwall council: On Tuesday the council voted to remove its leader for the past three years, Alec Robertson, and elected Jim Currie in his place. Although Currie is, like Robertson, a member of the Conservative group, he is not the group leader and was nominated by an Independent councillor. Currie is now forming his cabinet. There is a vacancy in Gwinear-Gwithian and St Erth division, after the death of Conservative councillor Ray Tovey. Term ends next May.
  • Forest of Dean district council: Vacancy in Berry Hill ward after the death of Labour councillor Helen Stewart. Term ends 2015.
  • Poole council: Byelection on 15 November in Branksome East ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Stephen Rollo-Smith due to ill health. Term ends 2015.
  • Swindon council: Byelection on 15 November in Blunsdon and Highworth ward after the death of veteran Conservative councillor Doreen Dart. Term ends 2014. As a result of her death, the Conservatives have lost overall control of the council.
