The latest information about local electoral matters is as follows:

  • Cornwall council: Byelection on 20 September in St Keverne and Meneage division after the death of Independent councillor Pam Lyne. There is another vacancy in Gwinear-Gwithian and St Erth division, after the death of Conservative councillor Ray Tovey. Both terms end in 2013. Meanwhile Tamsin Williams, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Penzance Central division, has joined Mebyon Kernow. The full composition of the council is now Conservatives 46, Liberal Democrats 37, Independent 30, Mebyon Kernow 6, Labour 1, Standalone Independent 1, with two vacancies.
  • Poole council: Vacancy in Branksome East ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Stephen Rollo-Smith due to ill health. Term ends 2015. The byelection is likely to be held on 15 November.

West Midlands

Yorkshire and the Humber

  • Ryedale district council: Vacancy in Norton West ward after the death of Conservative councillor Judith Denniss. Term ends 2015. The byelection is likely to take place on 15 November.
  • Scarborough borough council: Byelection on 20 September in Esk Valley ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jim Preston. Term ends 2015.
