The latest information about local council electoral matters is as follows:

North East

  • No updates this week.

North West

  • Blackburn with Darwen council: Julie Daley was elected councillor for Beardwood with Lammack ward on 28 July, holding the seat for the Conservatives.
  • Knowsley borough council: Byelection on 18 August in Page Moss ward after the resignation of Labour councillor and former Mayor Tommy Russell. Term ends May next year.
  • Warrington council: Colin Oliver, who lost his seat in Poulton North ward in May, has been re-elected councillor for the ward in a byelection caused by the resignation of his ward colleague. He rejoins the Liberal Democrat group.

South East

West Midlands

Yorkshire and the Humber

  • North Yorkshire county council: Vacancy in Thornton Dale and The Wolds division after the resignation of Conservative councillor Ron Haigh, who is moving out of the county to help care for his wife. Term ends 2013.

Wales

  • Gwynedd county council: Byelection on 29 September in Penrhyndeudraeth division after the resignation of Dewi Lewis of Plaid Cymru. There is also a vacancy in Diffwys and Maenofferen division after the resignation of Llais Gwynedd councillor Richard Lloyd Jones. Both terms end in May next year.
  • Torfaen county borough council: Barry Taylor, candidate of the Labour Party, was elected councillor for Snatchwood division on 26 July, gaining a seat previously held by an Independent councillor.
