The latest information about other local council electoral matters is as follows:

East Midlands

  • Blaby district council: Byelection on 25 November in Blaby South ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Dr David Pollard. Term ends May 2011.

East of England

  • Cambridge city council: George Owers, candidate of the Labour Party, was elected councillor for Coleridge ward on 4 November. This result is a gain from the Conservatives and removes the last Conservative on the council.
  • East Hertfordshire district council: Byelection in Hunsdon ward on 11 November due to the resignation of Independent councillor Deborah Clark. There is also a vacancy in Sawbridgeworth ward due to the resignation of her husband, Nigel Clark. Both terms end May 2011.
  • Norfolk county council: Vacancy in Humbleyard division due to the impending resignation of Conservative councillor and council leader Daniel Cox who is moving to India. Term ends 2013.
  • South Norfolk district council: Vacancy in Rustens ward due to the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Daniel Cox who is moving to India. Term ends May 2011.
  • Suffolk county council: Byelection on 11 November in Tower division after the resignation of Conservative councillor Paul Farmer due to ill health. Term ends 2013.
  • Waveney district council: Vacancy in Southwold and Reydon after the resignation of Conservative councillor Simon Tobin due to pressure of business. Term ends 2014.

London

  • Lewisham borough council: Labour Party candidate Carl Handley was elected councillor for Ladywell ward on 4 November, holding the seat for his party.
  • Tower Hamlets borough council: Vacancy in Spitalfields and Banglatown ward after the disqualification of Lutfur Rahman on election as Mayor of Tower Hamlets. He had been elected for the Labour Party but was expelled when he stood as an Independent against the Labour candidate for Mayor.

North East

  • Northumberland county council: Eileen Armstrong, the Conservative Party candidate, was elected councillor for Ponteland East on 4 November. She retained the seat for her party.
  • Stockton-on-Tees borough council: There are three vacancies. First, Billingham East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Alex Cunningham, now MP for Stockton North. Second, Ingleby Barwick East ward, caused by the resignation of Ingleby Barwick Independent Society member Andrew Larkin. Third, Mandale and Victoria ward, after the death of councillor Allison Trainer, who was a member of the Thornaby Independent Association. All three terms end in May 2011.

  • Bradford city council: Byelection on 25 November in Worth Valley ward after the resignation of former council leader Kris Hopkins (Conservative), now MP for Keighley. Term ends 2012.

  • Moray council: Byelection on 11 November in Forres ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Iain Young. Term ends 2012.
