All the four byelections held on 12 February were in Conservative-held wards, but the Conservatives ended the night holding only three of them. The one which changed hands was Jubilee ward in Enfield borough council, where Labour gained the seat in what had been a split ward at the 2006 local elections.

The Conservatives defended a marginal seat at Waddon ward in Croydon borough council, and also held on to safer seats in Cannock West ward, Cannock Chase district council, and in Grange Park ward, South Northamptonshire district council.

On North East Lincolnshire council, Jon-Paul Howarth (elected for the Liberal Democrats in East Marsh ward), has joined the Labour Party.
